Munich Zoo - Pampas

The large and green pampas enclosure for South American animals in Munich Zoo. On this pampas lives vicugnas, capybaras, giant anteaters, maras and greater rheas.

Isn´t it rather unusual to keep giant anteaters in mixed exhibits? I am all for it if it works....

No, it is not that unsual. Anteaters however are very private creatures, and theyr require a lot of privacy if you won't them to be happy and breed. This they cannot always get in mixed-species enclosures, but if the enclosure is big enough and built properly, there is no problem.

Well, in Munich, the anteaters seems to work good with the other animals, but it didn't end up good in Copenhagen, am I right?

No, in Copenhagen we had to take the anteaters of the pampas and give them a private exhibit
