One of the most impressive-looking of the wild pig taxa currently present in European collections, the captive population of Bearded Pig is now elderly and non-breeding. As such, the species is likely to disappear from European collections within the next few years. My visit to Tierpark Hellabrunn means that I have now seen every individual of this species remaining in Europe.
