Indeed, and they have bred. I think the one in the water is the father, the one sleeping fully up on dry land is the mother and the one next to her is the calf, but I'm not sure how old he was at the time.
 
Yes my dear australian fellows. Have care to those pygmy hippos. I've heard that some of you like to shoot them...

To be serious: Looks like a nice, spacious exhibit. I wish we had the space and the climate for that in Central Europe - not only for pygmy hippos.
 
Who, that is awesome! Never seen anything like that for pygmy hippos since the San Diego Wild Animal Park had them in their lake in the 1970's.
 
these guys have produced at least 3 calfs - sadly one was "misplaced" only to end up in the darwin museum.

lets hope the rest stay happy and healthy here in this lovely big lake.
 
There are now 4 pygmy hippo in this enclosure with the birth of another young male 3 months ago!
