I saw this white estuarine crocodile on a number of visits to Stuttgart (Wilhelma) Zoo during the 1980s and 1990s.
The last time I was in Stuttgart, I saw this crocodile stuffed in the Zoology Museum; according to the museum signage, this animal arrived at Stuttgart Zoo in 1967 and died in 2000.
Yes, it was just called "the white crocodile" even though it wasn't white or yellow or whatever. There are rumours that it was a kind of "planned death" because the old enclosure was far too small and i don think it was the most beloved job to clean it,....
the area was renovated, a new crocodile exhibit is constructed and again, estuarine crocs including a white one, are inhabitatnts.
i personally do think it's tottally unnecessary to keep such a species in such an enclosure when there are far more endangered species around,....
30sth years isn't old enough to die for an crocodile, i guess.
Rumours, don't get me wrong!
