I love Sequoia National Park in California. I had no idea someone had planted a sequoia grove in another part of the world. These appear to be much smaller than the giants in the national park (due to their young age no doubt). I wonder if they will thrive in the German climate and reach a truly large size in a couple hundred years?
@Arizona Docent: other European zoological and botanical gardens feature such sequoia groves, too, as well as individual trees. So far, they haven't had the time to reach the size of their American cousins (yet).
I guess there are about 50 sequoia in the Wilhelma, and they are about 30 meters tall, but due to the colder climate they will never reach the same height as in California, though they will continue to grow for a long while...
