Northern Wheatear (Oenanthe oenanthe) at Wilhelma - April 10th 2015

A species which I have seen many times in the Northumberland countryside; however, they are a rather timid and flighty taxon, and as such I have never had the opportunity to photograph them in the wild as closely as I should like. As such I was pleased to see this taxon displayed within the aviaries surrounding the Damascene Hall at Wilhelma.

Such a fascinating species. I particularly love how strong their legs are, being able to support their bodies in such a way:p;)

Cheeky bastard :p

If you're lucky you might see a wild one whilst over in the UK, they should still be around at that time.
