Eurasian Merganser x Common Eider

While nobody would produce this on purpose, it's very handsome, and shows its parentage clearly.

I presume this bird was bred at Dortmund. The same unusual cross breeding happened in the Martin Mere WWT collection a few years ago. The hybrids were known as 'gooders' (goosander x eider).

The bill here is facinating. Combining two very distinctive bill types. Waterfowl hybrids are usually quite handsome.
