Sumatran orang-utan Walter

I think this is the male that was sent to another Zoo some years back but he became so depressed after the transfer they were worried he would die, so he was returned to his old home.

Walter was sent to Furuvik/Sweden from Leipzig Zoo in 2003, he became ill there because he was separated from his favourite females "Pini" and "Toba". Therefore Prof. Klaus Eulenberger, chief veterinarian from Leipzig, traveled to Furuvik and Walter was shipped back to Leipzig and immediately mated with "Toba". In 2006 "Walter", "Toba" and their daughter "Toba" traveled to Dortmund Zoo together.

Toba already gave birth to 2 small Orangs in Dortmund : 0,1 "Eirina", five years old and 1,0, which died through an tragical accident...

On 27th of december, the first small Orang of mother "Djamuna" was born in Dortmund...
