Although it is fascinating to see one in a zoo, I think that all the Seychelles tortoises in zoos should be repatriated to reinforce the in situ breeding programmes. The number of adult animals is just so small that all of them should get the opportunity to breed. Perhaps a few hatchlings could be sent to co-operating zoos eventually.

I'm inclined to agree; I don't whether there's a particular reason this hasn't happened in this case.
