The Sloths have free range inside the Monkey House at Duisburg. They often come within reach of the public. One took a swipe at me in an unexpected turn of energy when I attempted to stroke it (I had never touched a sloth before).

Well, quite a few places appear to have them in walk-through exhibits now including several in the UK. I've not heard of there ever being a problem though at least one zoo over here insists on a permanent keeper presence while public are in the exhibit.
Sloths have got big, sharp teeth and I, for one, would not like to get bitten by one.
