  • Date added
One of the areas for free-ranging animals inside the Equatorium in Duisburg Zoo, Germany. The free-ranging species living in the vegetation and around the visitors in here are golden lion tamarins, Goeldi's marmosets, cotton-top tamarins, common marmosets, pygmy marmosets, two-toed sloths and green iguanas. This area also serves as an exhibit for big hairy armadillos.

The Equatorium opened in 1962 and was built to house animals from the equatorial rainforests. However, today it is used mainly as a primate house. Most of the monkeys and apes have separate exhibits inside the house but various free-ranging animals also live among the visitors.
