Duisburg Zoo briefly housed the polar bears from Aalborg Zoo in 1998/1999 while their own exhibit was being rebuilt. The last polar bear, an extremely old female, left Duisburg together with the bears from Aalborg. She lived in Aalborg Zoo for a few months until the zoo finally had to euthanise her (something they didn't have the guts to do in Duisburg).

Ah yes I remember reading that somewhere; Aalborg Zoo, Copenhagen Zoo and other Danish zoos have guts to do what zoos elsewhere would not dare to do. Carcass feeding is one of them.
The name of the Bear was Clementine. She was not a old Bear. She was born in 1982 in the Wildness. In 1986 she came to Bremerhaven and in 1991 to Duisburg.
