Frankfurt Zoo - Bird house

The bird house in Frankfurt Zoo. A very nice bird house, I think. To the right in the picture is a small part of the shoebill exhibit.

It is, altough outdoor cage sare missing, they had spectecular holding and breeding sucesses in that house. It was opened in 1962, but its not look like a building of that age.

I really liked the Frankfurt bird house, even if it does look reminiscent of a museum corridor (and some of the glass-fronted boxes for finches are very small!). This was where I saw my first pigmy kingfisher (I can't remember which species) and bald crow (Picathartes). The latter was the undoubted highlight of the zoo overall.
