I don't know why, but this looks like a very "English" style of enclosure (if that makes sense)

I know what you mean - maybe it's the mock dry stone wall that does it!

I think it is that large tree branch with lichen on it and the violet flowers on the tree behind it that give it an English woodland feel

Looks like a very well thought out construction of the retaining wall.

It would appear that the meerkat would be able to climb out, although l would think that all those possible angles for a foot hold actually do not make this possible.

If you notice though, there is what appears to be a hotwire just to make doubly sure.
