I've yet to see a truly great orangutan exhibit (with nothing but huge trees!) but the one at Leipzig Zoo is above average.

The outdoor orang/gibbon exhibit is one of--if not THE--best I've ever seen. The orangs have access to several large living trees, connected by vines and ropes. The trees are clearly showing stress from being bark-stripped and branches torn off, but the sight of a full grown male orang brachiating 40 feet in the air in a live tree is astounding

I think it's about time you come back to visit Melbourne Zoo because their orang-utan exhibit is the best that I've ever seen even from photoes and has a few live trees that are yet to establish so I think that they are hot-wired.

I've seen both, and like Leipzig more. Many more trees, much bigger area. Melbourne is better than I expected, but still seems very contrived with the artificial sway poles, ugly back wall and limited forest canopy. It's not bad, but there's nothing like seeing an orang in a group of real living trees

Leipzig Zoo really just sounds and looks great.

Look forward to seeing it soo l hope.
