Are there plans for "free range" species here? Birds, bats, small herps? Or would these be too vulnerable given the large number of potential predators exhibited throughout?
It is a general overview with an exhibit for african storks below the tree top path. There is also space for additional exhibits in the future below.
Exhibit Nr. 24 is divided into two enclosures (Nr. 24a [the exhibit with the little hippo icon] - Pygmy hippos, Diana or Hamlyn monkey, Nr. 24b [the exhibit between the hippo and the serval icon] Diana or Hamlyn monkey, little African antelope).
There are plans for free range species. They will follow during the next months. One species is already living free there. An unknown number of Cuban brown anoles came with trees from South America unnoticed.
Are there plans to swap out the fishing cats when leipzig is able to get hold of clouded leopards. I believe they were originally intended to be the asiatic cat species.
There are no plans to swap out the fishing cats. The clouded leopards were supposed to keep below the tree top path (Nr. 23), but the zoo decided to abandon the plans of keeping clouded leopards.
The two clouded leopards, that were intended and reserved for Gondwanaland, are living in Tierpark Berlin now.
