Chinese Pangolin (Manis pentadactyla) at Zoo Leipzig - April 7th 2014

Not the highest-quality image taken during the time I spent observing the Chinese Pangolins, but certainly one of the most unusual; granted it is not every day you see a pangolin, but even then, it is all the rarer to see a pangolin making a break for freedom!

Ah, but the big question is: have any ZooChatters seen all three displayed species (possibly four if Nandankanan have any of their Indians on-show)?

I really must get to San Diego...
I can think of quite a few who have seen two. Some must have seen all three although I couldn't name who off the top of my head. I've only seen Sunda Pangolins.

When one considers some of the species previously displayed in European collections I suspect there may well be individuals who have seen even more taxa; I'd imagine Tim May and GentleLemur would be among the likeliest to hold this honour.

There's also a small place outside Hyderabad which displays Indian pangolins.

I've only seen the two more common Asian species so far. :)

Yes, I'm on two (Chinese and Sunda), but three would be pretty impressive. Any more would be very impressive.

@devilfish: Do you know what it's called?

Are there any zoos in the Philippines that keep the Philippine pangolin?
Has that species ever been kept in captivity anywhere?

None that I'm aware of, although it has previously (briefly) been kept in rescue centres.

Coincidentally I've just received word that a rescue centre outside Manila received three pangolins last week which have since been released. :)

Sorry, I had been thinking of Kandaleru deer park. I once found a photo which pushed me to think it was more than an erroneous listing but this evening I haven't found any further evidence.

In response to Giant Panda's post; Yes, there are zoochatters who have seen three species of captive pangolins. :D
I saw San Diego's tree pangolin in 2010, Singapore Night Safari's sunda pangolin twice this July, and Leipzig's chinese pangolins today!
Additionally, I also saw another two sunda pangolins this July in Batu Secret Zoo, Indonesia.

One of the pangolins 'escaped' during today's feeding presentation, as well. Was very interesting to see it walking between the people watching.

We have a winner!

What did you think of Leipzig?

Certainly a very impressive zoo! I feel like they did a very impressive job in combining traditional european zoo architecture with hyper-modern newer areas like Gondwanaland, Pongoland, Kiwara, the elephant complex, etc.
The pangolin feeding show was impressive as well! I'm very glad we took the time to be there well before it began, because both pangolins were already very active around half an hour before the show.
It's a shame I live quite far away, so it isn't easy to come back more often, haha.
