Almost,but not quite, as bad as Barcelona.Amazing how many European zoos reserve their most dire installations for orangs & chimps.I seriously believe there is something subliminal involved , as if there were an unwillingnes to give such bright primates an environment in which they could display their intelligence, which is uncomfortable for certain sectors (pharmaceuticals , etc).
Don't forget, this part of germany was not long ago the GDR. This was the best you could get there. And the zoo does much rebuilding from that on, but there is no money to do all at once.
