Dusky Pademelon (Thylogale brunii) at Zoologischer Garten Magdeburg - 5 Apr

A very unusual species of marsupial which has, in recent years, managed to gain a foothold in European collections - although it is still a very seldom-seen taxon overall. The pair held at Magdeburg have successfully bred a number of times since the collection obtained the species in 2012; in point of fact, this female had a joey in-pouch at the time of our visit. As such, this species will hopefully continue to spread throughout European collections in the years to come.
