Maguari Stork (Ciconia maguari) at Zoologischer Garten Magdeburg - 5 April

A large and rather impressive species of stork, having never seen one prior to my visit to Germany I ultimately saw quite a few individuals here and at Zoo Berlin. I am particularly pleased with the detail of the face and beak in this particular photograph.

Spoilt only by the fencing. :(

Eh, I'd still call this photo a win. The fencing isn't that bad here. I'd much rather prefer a little bit of blurred out and barely visible wire fencing in a photo over dirty or very reflective glass or chainlink.

Indeed; I had to choose between shots that were out of focus but managed to omit the fencing, or shots like this one which were in perfect focus but included the fencing :p
