A blue moustached monkey by the tropical hall in the rainforest-biotope of the Africa theme in ZOOM Erlebniswelt, Germany. A fascinating creature and a very rare species.

ZOOM Erlebniswelt is a brand new zoo built completely from scratch on the site of the old Ruhr Zoo. It is divided into three large themes: Alaska (2005), Africa (2006) and Asia (2010).

Definitely one of the zoo-nerd's highlights of ZOOM - I'm quite partial to a rare guenon (the other major zoo-nerd highlight is the bears; with Kodiak and Kamchatkan Bears next door to each other and Polar Bears including little Antonia the dwarf).

A super cool Monkey! I too love a rare guenon or two. Are they breeding here?

Unfortunately, I don't think that they are breeding there. It's a real shame...

In the former Ruhr-Zoo they tried to breed them, but never with success, one baby has died before it was born..

1,0 "Flummi" he was hand reared and owned by an old woman before he came to the zoo.
0,1 "Hanne" she came from Kronberg(Opel Zoo) several years ago, she's the one with the short tail.
