Hi Animal, do you have any idea where in Asia the tigers will be ( and what species), as they are a little short of space I think, even the camels seem to have only a small enclosure.

Right behind the entrance of the asiapart on the right side. It will be 1000 m² as far as I know for either a breeding pair or a bachelor group of amur tigers.

@Brum, lol, yes I know Dudley's isn't exactly massive, but could be bigger as I dont see the need for the electric fence all around the place, having said that they like to spend most of the time indoors anyway!

@ Animal thanks for the details, I'm sure they will do a good job of it, certainly cant be any worse than Duisburg's tiger enclosure, fantastic zoo that does have space to provide a good tiger area but so far hasn't (lack of money?).

The electric fence annoys the life out of me as well and I've never seen them in the house, always outside! For you to criticise Zooms enclosure it must be really small?

No I would't say it was really small, it just seems like an after thought, like of there arn't many animals in this section so we'll just throw some camels in at the far end. Not a major problem for me in what is an otherwise fine zoo, if you get the chance it's a must visit IMO.

There must be a reason for Dudley's electric fence but it seems to have escaped us both, surely a well build metal or wooden fence would be better as it just looks ugly as it is and wastes so much space.

Since I wrote my last comment I've found some photo's of Zooms camel enclosure and it does look better than Dudleys, more spacious anyway with at least 4 camels.

I fail to see what purpose the electric fence serves. I'm certain a determined camel could easily clear it?

There might be more than four although I dont remember how many, I guess the size is ok, but it's very barren (or at least was on my last visit, and not a problem for the camels I know), and also is tacked onto the far end of Asia almost out of sight.

Jumping camel's at Dudley? Could be a money spinner lol.

Could be a decent way of raising some much needed capital... ;)

TBH I wasn't even thinking jumping camels, I was thinking "stepping over the fence" camels! :D
