A curious mixture of Art Deco and natural-effect rockwork, this is (to my eyes anyway) quite an atrractive enclosure. From a husbandry point-of-view, it could do with being deeper, but is otherwise fine.

And it\'s always nice to see Grey Seals in place of the more \'obvious\' pinnipeds.

Pretty strange and interesting indeed! But "Art Deco"? Is it really that old? Do you know when it was built?

That's certainly an interesting design. I wish grey seals were more common.

Think this was originally a penguin exhibit and this was the house.....now a 'penguin theatre'. Was there only a week ago and had a root around but can't confirm. Need to find an old guidebook with map.

Sorry - wasn't very clear - I don't think it's of the Art Deco era, just the style put me in mind of it.

The pool was originally for sea elephants. The House was created over the original penguin pool in the late '60s but newer used, so penguins were kept in the adjoning pool.
