I thought they had closed this zoo down along with most other metropolitan zoos in Italy in the 1980s. Rome Zoo was among few that survived while Torino closed and others.
It is true that zoos in Turin, Milan, Brescia, Verona and other in smaller cities were closed down in the '80s. This means that only Rome and Naples have an urban zoo at the moment. Personally, I think this is a very negative situation that prohibit a regular contact with wildlife at most city dweller.
