Larus argentatus/Herring Gull

Is this difference in eye colour between the sexes a usual thing? If so, I did not realise they could be sexed on eye colour; either way, I will now be looking carefully at the wild Herring Gulls around here, to see if I can find one with dark eyes.
Are these wild or captive examples? They look as if they are full-winged.

Eye color does not depend on sex! This is a natural wild Herring Gulls population breeding in the Zoo.

Larus argentatus

Many thanks for clarifying this; I'll see if I can find any round here with dark eyes.
