This is indeed the main Mishmi Takin enclosure at Riga, I had a discussion with a keeper about the bars at the back fence-line because I felt that a leg could easily get caught and damaged in them. But they are generally quite successful with Takin there. I believe their animals are unrelated to those in German zoos etc..?
Not specifically, but the keepers at Riga seemed to think their Takin were not closely related to those in Germany and elsewhere, which are largely related of course.
Main population:
- male born Frankfurt Zoo - Mar 26, 2003;
- 2 females born Augsburg Zoo - Apr 16 & 17, 2003;
- female born Helsinki Zoo - Apr 23, 2007
... and their children (on September 1, 2014) - 2 females born 2012.
