Proboscis monkey

June 2 2013
Great photograph vogelcommando !!!

Zoos in the United States that had Proboscis monkeys were Henry Doorly Zoo, Oregon Zoo, Bronx Zoo, San Diego Zoo, Dallas Zoo and believe it or not but Cameron Park Zoo.

The story with the Proboscis monkeys at the Cameron Park Zoo were they were bought by a dealer named Leon Lepard, he bought a big group of them, he gave those monkeys to the Cameron Park Zoo but a lot of them died

A large male from the Dallas Zoo went to the Bronx Zoo

Denver Zoo and Milwaukee Zoo in the mid 70's had them as well.

I believe that like Milwaukee and Denver, Omaha and Oregon had them in the 1970s. the ones in Omaha lived with Red colobus if you can believe that (At least that is what a friend in the zoo industry told me)

Cameron Park Zoo never had the species. That was the Central Texas Zoo, which was also in Waco. The Central Texas Zoo was the main importer of the species for the country.
