@Baldur: I find it intriguing that so many of the polar bear exhibits that you've recently scanned onto ZooChat all appear to blend together. I feel that I've been glancing at the exact same enclosure over and over again, which is a pity as most of the grottoes are embarrassingly tiny and mainly jagged concrete. The good news is that quite a few of the polar bear exhibits have been extensively renovated since the time of your photos!

They don't blend together to me; I'd be able to idendify any of them any day from a large assortment of photos, provided that I have seen it with my own eyes at some point. Many of them are just old and are either being replaced or improved. The good news for you is that Artis no longer has Polar Bears and this exhibit now houses something else.
this is indeed the current mandrill enclosure, which is oke for the mandrills at the moment. There is a plan to create a new polar bear enclosure on the current mandrill, spectacled bear and Nilgai enclosures, but I don't know if this is still something that will be done in the near future. But this part is definetely the ugliest part of Artis...
