I was quite shocked at the size of this exhibit (and the adjoining jaguar exhibits) when I visited a few years ago. Does anyone know if there are plans to improve the living space of the animals or move them out of the zoo?

The zoo indeed has plans for an enlarged elephant enclosure which will be build on part of the parking lot of the zoo and certainly the cages where currently the jaguars and other cats are housed will be demolished to make room for the new enclosure. I‘m not sure if this lion exhibit will be part of the new exhibit as well, I couldnt tell that from the drawings.
The lions will stay where they are for a while, first all the other cat enclosures will be demolished and the area will be used for the new elephant enclosure. I believe the plans are to demolish these ancient enclosures somewhere this year.
But actually the other cat enclosures are not even too bad, they are damn ugly, but because there is only 1 lynx, 1 amur leopard, 2 serval and 2 fossa living there, they have relatively much space. I even think that the amur leopard has more space than the leopards in the newly built enclosure in Leipzig....
