I saw them for about 5 minutes early in the morning when it had only been open for a short time and the went back into their tunnels after a short time as more and more people started to turn up.
I think the key is to get there when there's nobody else around so that it is quiet. We were there when one of the bird shows was on, so we had the place to ourselves for nearly half an hour.
