Superb lyrebird

This display was definitely the highlight of the visit but unfortunately the photos don\'t do it justice.

I have a video on my phone of the male lyrebird at Healesville Sanctuary displaying. It's still one of the most amazing things I've seen anywhere ever.

Still, quite a stunning photograph Goura. I can imagine the vocal display was probably just as grand, since they tend to mimic an array of sounds.

What amazed me was that he appeared to be completely oblivious to observers who were only about a metre away from him.

@Goura & Pat: On my tour of Australia in 2007 I also saw a lyrebird display at Healesville Sanctuary, and is it remarkable that we all have seen possibly the same bird put on an astonishing display or do lyrebirds attempt to attract mates on a daily basis?
