The siamang part in the main paddock of Burgers' Rimba consits of the roof of the shelter and the big tree in the middle, together with a few trees on the way to their indoor enclosure. The siamang were able to roam the entire enclosure just after the opening of the Rimba but they were bullied by the macaques. So instead of rotating the species, the zoo secured a few trees for the siamangs and made sure the macaques couldn't get into them. This way both species can be outside at the same time but can't interact.
Burgers' Rimba is the newest area of Burgers' Zoo, it opened in 2008. It represents a southeast asian forest with species that are too big to fit in an enclosure in Burgers' Bush. Species include Malayan sun bear, siamang, water monitor and Sumatran tiger.
