The Famous Platypusary - Healesville Sanctuary

June 2007.
I've heard from many ZooChatters (as well as my wife who recently visited Healesville) that it is extremely difficult to spot a platypus in this bizarrely-designed enclosure. The dark, indoor exhibit(s) for platypus are far superior in terms of activity on the part of the inhabitant.

Is the McArch gone or simply renovated into oblivion? What's the scoop on the latest alteration to this exhibit? I thought that the enclosure was not very old to begin with, and thus it is unusual to hear of it being given a makeover.

This exhibit has been renovated or added to again, with the addition of tiered seating and canvass roofing to cover the seating, and most of the front is now filled in with 3 large circular tanks for the "Platypus tails" keeper presentation - quite a cool presentation actually! see the other photos I've loaded for further details
