opened in 2009, they have one very big fake tree in their enclosure
O god, i just looked at the rest of the pictures of this zoo, sure animal enclosures are at a standard but it makes me realise how lucky i am to live 30 mins of CHESTER ZOO

Decent red panda exhibits:

National Zoo: (the best I've ever seen)

Woodland Park Zoo:

Knoxville Zoo: (walk-through red panda exhibit!)

Givskud Zoo:

Prague Zoo:

Auckland Zoo:

Zoo Atlanta:

The list goes on and on...because red pandas are fairly easy to showcase in top-quality zoos. That is why I'm surprised at the terrible exhibit that is being discussed in this photo.

just to point out, chester zoo red panda enclosure isnt that different, same sort of size, its just they have taller tree's which provide a nice hiding place,

but like i said, maybe you could email in to tell them your veiws

you are kidding aren't you?

Chester has more than 3 dead 10ft tall trees in their enclosure and they don't have a huge intrusive pylon smack bang in the middle of it either.

Red Pandas are fairly arboreal species. They like climbing and resting in very high places. The 3D space available to the inhabitants is much more important than the 2D plot of the enclosure. Chester's has large established trees which provide shade and the height required and this enclosure, well, doesn't. Chester's nest boxes are also placed in a raised location and not randomly placed on the ground with no real cover.

EDIT: I see Taun has already stated a lot of what i have just posted.

@Okapi1997 I'm also happy that I live 5 km from Burgers Zoo instead of this zoo.

Th whole zoo opened in 2003 but you wouldn't say that when you see the zoo
