I'm always undecided when I see these type of exhibits as I'd much prefer to view a more natural-looking environment. However, as messy as this enclosure appears to be there is some truth in the landscape it depicts.
In Australia (and many other parts of the world) pythons often hang around human habitation, attracted by the rodents. particularly in the Australian Outback. Many Aussie zoos have an exhibit like this for Carpets. While i'm not particulalrly fond of them either, it is educational for those who have grown up in cities.
