A view into the gorilla exhibit in the African section in Rotterdam Zoo. This exhibit used to be an island, but after Bokito's famous escape, it was surrounded by a dry moat and high walls. A decent exhibit with lots of shrubs and trees in the centre.

The three photos that have been posted on this exhibit show large viewing windows for the public and an altogether decent gorilla enclosure. There is a lot of greenery, trees and various shrubs for vegetation, but is there a canopy-like area for the apes or any climbing structures? Overall nothing earth-shattering, but still better than hundreds of other ape habitats in zoos worldwide.

I agree with you snowleopard. It is a very nice enclosure but nothing huge or innovative. Still, I'm sure that the gorillas lead very comfy lives here and that's is what matters most:)

The climbing structures here are the few rocks, some logs and the live trees in the exhibit (someone correct me if I'm wrong here).

I really liked it as an island from what I saw on zoolex but I guess this is better for the safety of the gorillas and visitors. Can I ask how he escaped?
