This is what a giraffe house should look like. Open, airy, light, high, and much better than the dank and decrepit giraffe houses that are often found in zoos.
I've been in this house (albeit before it had giraffes in - this was in May before the building was finished) and it is superb. I also like how the design suggests an African building without trying to reproduce one. A very worthy addition to one of the very best European zoos. There aren't many with so many top-notch exhibits and also such a fascinating, large and diverse animal collection.
@Maguari: great points. I've mentioned this before, and there is even at least one long thread based on this premise...but the Netherlands is surely the # 1 nation in Europe for zoos. Not quantity (Germany) but in terms of world-class exhibitry and diversity of species many European ZooChatters support the idea that the Netherlands is at the top of the zoological heap.
