Part of the outdoor exhibit for Philippine spotted deer in the Asia-theme in Rotterdam Zoo. Very nice and forresty. Behind the wire in the background is the island for lion-tailed macaques.

Gorgeous, lush, green, water-filled paddock that is perfect for the deer.

just for the record, it wasn't purpose build for the spotted deer. Originally brow-antlered deer lived here. Not really sure why those left. Perhaps to be able to exhibit spotted deer, perhaps the enclosure was a bit to small for the brow-antlered deer.
(al lot of the enclosures in this area used to have other inhabitants. The lion-tailedmacaques are quite new. There used to live gibbons (they made to much noise, waking up people who live next to the zoo), those swapped places with javan langurs that previously lived in taman indah. after the langurs the macaques came). Babiroussas have been replaced by the visayan pigs. Tigercats were replaced by golden cats, which in turn were replaced by rusty spotted cats :)

The whole Indonesian Forest area at Rotterdam is superb - this paddock is one of the most attractive I have ever seen.
