Azlan was in 2002 zeven jaar (geb. 15-5-1995), dus dat klopt. Azlan ziet er hier erg rood uit, maar dat kan inderdaad aan de foto liggen. Volgens mij is hij het wel. Midas zag er toch anders uit, want dat was een Aziatische Leeuw. Hij kwam pas in 2005 naar Blijdorp en is de vader van Shantee. Azlan is geen zuivere Afrikaanse Leeuw. Vader Midas was Aziatische Leeuw en moeder Heleen een Afrikaanse Leeuw. En Azlan heeft het in Burgers prima naar zijn zin met zijn harem en kinderen met zijn bijna 16 jaar!! Het enige minpunt is dat hij in Burgers "Danny" wordt genoemd.......

@Pippeloentje, I think you are wrong.... Azlan isn't a hybrid, Blijdorp never kept asian lions before 2005. I assume that there are more lions in Blijdorp that were called Midas.....

You may well be right and I hope so, because Azlan is a very handsome African Lion....... I found the info on Internet, but will ask a Blijdorp employee to give me more news. The Asian Lion Midas only arrived at Rotterdam Zoo on 08/07/2005 from Paignton when Azlan was already in Burgers Zoo.

I have tried to follow, but not being Dutch, the histories of individual animals in your zoos is not something I'm good in. However, I do remember being very impressed by the male I saw at Rotterdam in 1992 (I was 11 at the time and it was only the third or fourth time that I had seen a lion in fact) so I wonder if this could be Frits:
