Why on earth is the Melbourne Zoo spending $20 million on a marine precinct (which did need improving) when everyone knows that the Hamadryas baboons have easily the worst cage in the zoo? Perplexing...
id be inclined to agree with Pat, the zoo over-compensates by providing the most enrichment it possibly can.
of course the cages are still unacceptable and it would be far more 'enriching' for both zoo visitors, staff and presumedly the animals themselves if they were relocated to weribee
