TOTE: Bull paddock

Considering how abjectly awful many bull elephant paddocks are at zoos worldwide, this Melbourne enclosure must be one of the best around.

I also agree that this may be one of the best bull elephant exhibits.

they call it the bull paddock but in reality Bong Su is rotated between three habitats in total. good for him

I wonder why they couldn't have built a shade structure like this one in the village paddock instead of that ugly cream metal one.

i agree lol. i dont care very much about the cream shade sail...elephants need shade. BUT MZ has gone to such lengths to ensure this is a full-on cultural immersion exhibit only to shatter it with dissordant additions like this.
maybe the Asian Village where the paddock is supposed to be is modernising? what next? a foxtel dish on the village hall...
just seems pointless when the zoo ploughs millions of dollars into authentic plantings, architecture, landscaping, interp and cultural artefacts to erect this sail
