Australian magpie

Well this guy is definitely an Australian magpie I see them around my house every day. And over here butcher birds are smaller than magpies and kill smaller birds then empale them on branches from a tree and when they are hungry they simply pluck one of the birds of the stick and eat it. Google butcher birds if you don't believe me.

Although this bird is indeed an Australian Magpie, it is in the butcherbird family, Cracticidae, and is also usually placed in the butcherbird genus, Cracticus, as well.

Definitely an (Australian) Magpie.

Sorry, I realy thought this species was called Butcher bird in English.. I know the species very well ( took care for it ) and they realy can be butchers ! But if the English name is Australian magpie I'll change it of course ;) !

In Britain, 'butcher bird' is a nickname for Lanius shrikes such as Great Grey or Red-backed, after their habit of impaling prey in thorn larders.
