Poznan Zoo has breding program for this species. Animals are released into the wild. But several sousliks roaming free at the zoo - here at camel enclosure.

I will be visiting this zoo on Saturday for the first time, is there anything I should look out for or anything that I could accidentally miss when going around the zoo?
Thanks. Wear comfortable shoes Zoo is big but there is road train free of charge (five stops on the route). At the box office you can buy new zooguide with quite good map (it is one guide for both New and Old Zoos). Most interesting are Noctural House (the best in Poland, next to entrance), collection of gallinaceous birds (also next to gate but from other side), some rare carnivores and rodents (in the middle of the zoo), fine South America exhibit with big pool for tapirs and capybaras. Among rarities are Alfred and Baewan Deer, Negros wild pigs (one of the first breeding groups in Europe). Nice bear and tiger enclosures, elephant house. The road is simple and with map you shouldn't miss anything. Have a nice day.

Thanks for the information. I plan to visit the Old Zoo for a few hours on Sunday morning after the whole day Saturday in the New Zoo so the zoo guide sounds like a good idea.
African palm civets at the New Zoo are, afaik, unique n Europe - and a truly interesting species. I think they have recently bred, so, if you are very fortunate.....
