Yes, he (the giraffe is a male) was licking the back of the roo.............

Actually, I think the giraffe is a female as it does not have the bumps on the top of it's head.

Could be a young male - they don't start developing the extra-ossification until maturity.

Sorry it is my mistake. I checked all the photos out of this series (all was taken during one day in October 2007) - and really it is a female giraffe !!!!
On few other photos is a male, but those two I uploaded are with female giraffe. Sorry for the mistake !!!
