Wow, 150 years old and still in use! Are buildings "heritage listed" in Europe like they are in Australia, meaning that if they attain a certain age then they cannot be bulldozed but only renovated?

Actually this small building is not that old. We estimate thatit was built c.1885, so is only 123 years old or so. And of course yes - we do have a national law to protect historical buildings including also that inside the zoo. On Wroclaw Zoo grounds we do have 9 such buildings (8 from XIXc one from early XXc.) incl. two building which were previislu used as the entrances.

Canada has only officially been a country since 1867 (142 years and counting!) and so over here we don't have anything that I know of that is heritage listed. Our largest zoo is in Toronto and it is only just over 30 years old. Some old buildings in the U.S. might be heritage listed (like Cincinnati's reptile house) but I'm not 100% sure.
