I like the old hippo enclosure-it wa spacious with a big indoor pool and they also had an outdoor enclosure with big pool. It seems, nowadays outdoor enclosures for big mammals become more and more a"luxery" for them-unfortunately, also in europe. Really an Improvement for the Animalwalfare in Capitivity ?
Yes, hippo pool in elephant house is quite big (especially for XIX c.) but terrestrial part is rather small. Similarly with outdoor enclosure. In Afrykarium pool is much bigger and deeper than both old pools together. This same with dry land.
