Little Bittern, Wroclaw Zoo, April 2016

Little Bittern, helping itself to a snack of one of its fellow residents of the Arykarium.
So these were free-roaming in the Afrykarium I assume? If so, which section?
Any idea when they were moved over there? As they were in an enclosure in the Bird House when I visited a little over a year ago.
I imagine there have been a fair few new free-roaming species added and possibly new species in enclosures, so I'd be interested in a species list if you have one.

Little bitterns are in Congo Jungle. But breeding pair was left in Bird House (two youngsters were hatched in February).

As Arek has already said, these are indeed free-ranging in the "Congo" section of the Afrykarium. When I visited last July, they were then too - so, presumably, you were unfortunate to miss them (or they may have gone, and then come back....).

The main species haven't changed since the opening of the Afrykarium. I'm sure many new fish species have arrived - but sadly, the labelling of these is so poor that I couldn't tell you what is there with any confidence (this is one of only two shortcomings to this house*, in my opinion). In the Congo section, Schalow's turaco have arrived, from Chester. That aside, i think it's the same species that would have been there during your visit.
(*the lack of outdoor accommodation for the hippos being the other).

Beautifull shot of this species sooty mangabey !

Many thanks!

I visited Wroclaw in early April last year so they may not have arrived yet (or I missed them, and they weren't signed).

Were all of the tanks in the area around the underwater viewing of the Penguins and Fur Seals occupied? About half were empty when I visited.

And I certainly agree with vogelcommando on the quality of the picture, great action shot.

Sorry - I was thinking that your trip there was more recent. One major loss since then are the bee eaters, which did not thrive in the hippo-dikdik-aardvark area.

Most, but not all. Moray eels, jellyfish, lobsters - and, I'm sure, other things too (icthyology is not my strength!).
