Y Y Yassa 24 Mar 2009 I understand why you said she looked pregnant! I hope she really is. It`s a good okapi enclosure, by the way.

O O okapikpr 24 Mar 2009 How far along is she supposed to be? She doesnt appear to big. If she is pregnant than i would assume she is in her early pregnancy.

CindelP 25 Mar 2009 This is just a suposition ... I find her extremelly fat for an Okapi - for me, of course. She's Fara (born 2004) and has arrived to LZ in 2007. Both of the males, Baongo and Dubu (at least officialy) were dead on April 2008. If I'm not mistaken, Okapi pregnancy is about 420 days (correct?) , so she would be near the end. However, she's probably not pregnant, as I have the information that in May 2008 (after both the males died) she had a abortion (the father was Dubu). So, most likelly a false alarm from me ... except if my dates are wrong or if there's another okapi there.

B B Buckeye092 25 Mar 2009 Okapi pregnancies can last anywhere from 400 - 435 days. So you are correct, 420 days is average.
