Orang utan outside

Looks like some fantastic climbing equipment, though I'm not sure they'd appreciate all that water! Still, you never know :)

I've heard that the orangutans swim laps around their island home.;)

good climbing equipment but very stark in appearance. I think some more cover and shelters on the high poles would be appreciated. It is quite similar to Jersey's orangutan islands. The moat is maybe unnecessarily wide.

Jersey's has more land area and plants doesn't it? Seems a lot like Apenheul's Orang islands to me

Yes, it does, though I think maybe less climbing eqipment overall.

Apenheul's I saw (my one visit there) when it was brand new- so new the Orangs were installed indoors but hadn't used the outside yet. I remember it had special swinging ropes that 'gave' like natural foliage.. I've never seen photos of it since though.

@Pertinax: Then check the Apenheul gallery here on ZooChat. I have posted several shots of the orang-utan islands and indoor housing:)

Blackduiker

Could use more foliage, but lots of opportunity for natural brachiation. On the whole, I like this exhibit.

There is a lot of water, but surely this is one way to ensure the apes don't spend their entire life sitting on the floor?
