Do you know the composition of this group? Unusual to see more than two [at the most] Indian Rhinos living together.

I was only 16 at the time and had not yet progressed into such deep thinking during zoo tours as to be able to idendify what was unusual and what was not back then; I was still at the 'wow!' stage back then. But maybe someone from Portugal can help. But I do remember there were three in total, so all are seen here, and that there was of interaction between then, they were actually playful.

It was only the fifth time I had seen Indian Rhinos (after Hamburg 1991, Rotterdam 1992/1994, Zoo Berlin 1995, Tierpark Berlin 1995) so I was very excited.

Consulting the Indian Rhinoceros Studbook, it appears that Lisbon had three Indian rhinos, in 1997, as follows:-
• Male:- ‘Gangtok’ (born San Diego Wild Animal Park; 22nd Dec 1991)
• Female:- ‘Teja’ (born Planckendael; 15th November 1992)
• Female:- ‘Gujrat’ (born San Diego Wild Animal Park; 28th December 1990)

Don't get me wrong here, I go 'Wow!' all the time still to this day. It's just that, when you're 16 and have only seen 8 zoos (Lisbon was only my 8th zoo, but the present figure is something like 140) everything seems to be unusual and exciting.
